Tell me a bit about your background, where you're from etc, anything from your background that defines you as an artist or your music.
I come from Ghana, Nkoranza to be exact. Come from a very rural and natural town with royalty in my blood. It's shaped me in many ways - from how i enunciate my words to cadence in my speech and melodies. That's what set what i do aside from the masses - when you hear the melodies and everything together you can't quite put your hands on it but you understand and appreciate it - its almost makes my work sound universal like it could be from somewhere in europe or it could be somewhere back home in africa.
How would you describe your unique musical style? Are there any specific genres or artists that have influenced your sound?
Oh ofcourse, i get influenced every single day by things that are going on in my personal life or even songs from other artists and those around me. That obsession with wanting to see how many ways you hit one word or flow keeps me influenced everyday. Hip life, afrobeats and a lot of foreign music which i can't even name now from the top of my head, can be found at the foundation level of me as an artist, i grew up listening to alot of diverse music cause of my older brother, brenda fassie and Lumidee, Toto and Oye mi canto was a serious hit for me at one point. But Celine dion, MJ and Young thug are really artist i go back to every day and feel inspired and gives me them creative goosebumps. oo Darius rucker an honorable mention!
Are there any collaborations you dream of pursuing in the future? Are there any artists or producers you'd love to work with?
Right now i believe everything working at the pace and level it should and i am working with all those i should be. BYNX is a really dope producer I'd love to get in a session with, we'll create some solid work. When it comes to artist i have an open mind and willing to work but for me. I'd love a body work with either Celine Dion, Thugger, future or Ty Dollar Sign.
How would you describe your music to someone who's never heard of you?
Its an experience - it's an immersive experience that you got to enter with a clear mind and forget anything you know about anything and just let go and experience.
What is your process when approaching making a song
Honestly, I approach every song differently as some records i can be so inspired by one thing and i can go in and sketch it out completely and then touch it up or mostly what i do when recording with Rillo Vista one of the hardest producers / audio engineers out there is a do a take or two and he highlight key melodies and pockets that stick outs and then we match the pieces together like its lego - its really fun.
